Blog Assignment:

Instant messaging is a powerful tool for quick communication and connection. IM at least three students whose blogs make you think you might want to collaborate with them on a project. You will be forming "clusters" to work together on collaborative assignments, so IM around and see who you connect with. Discuss your final project interests in an IM session or face to face dialogue. Post the script to the wiki in your blog space or form a new cluster space if you are ready. Now consider the following questions:

*How does your composition differ when writing IM? Most of us do not stare at a blank screen when trying to write an IM, while many of us do exactly that while trying to write a "paper". Can you use IM to write "papers" and then edit them for the audience of the paper?

  • How does a "paper" audience differ from an "IM" audience, even when they are the same person(s)? Can you focus your attention on multiple streams of information while working with IM and wiki and sound?

"What is more likely, Ong explains, is that Hopkins did not "discover" sprung rhythm in such a straightforward manner, but he simply heard it everywhere because it was so directly linked to everyday language": in other words sprung rhythm springs from everyday speech
